We are a group of people who are passionate about being involved in our local community and the wider world. We want to get stuck in with God’s redemptive story wherever we find it. Here are some of the things we get involved in:
Asha Project – We are involved in many things, but this project is what we put our main fundraising efforts into. We often take teams out to see the project at first hand. We are in awe of the work carried out and realise when we spend any time with those who work there how much we truly have.
Peckham Settlement – Peckham Settlement is a dynamic, multi-purpose community organisation located in Peckham. It delivers a wide rang of activities focusing on those who fall outside of mainstream heart. We often work in partnership with them and some of us work with them. We are passionate about them because they serve those who do not have a voice.
Pecan – Pecan is passionate about training people, giving people hope. They run a much needed community foodbank which we help in contributing to. We also often meet in their building!
SE Village - This is something we partnership the Peckham Settlement using money seeded from NESTA Neighbourhood Challenege. The idea is to enable community groups to form and provide activities, services and clubs that the community needs. It provides funding, support, mentoring and celebration.
Charities Parliament – A way of connecting the not-for-profit sector with politics a vehicle for pushing for change.
Transition Towns Peckham – Driven by a passion that we should live more sustainably and need to response to the changing climate.
Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers – Who are the untouchables that Jesus would spend time with if he were walking now, maybe here is where we start to find that answer. We are committed to all those who our country refuses to recognise.
Mission Year – We support a mission year community house and each year have new people join committed to seeking to see what it means to live in Christian community.
Southwark Rugby - A new club which is less than five years ago and found in Burgess Park next to some of the most socially deprived estates in the country. I seeks to bring the discipline and team skills of rugby to an area more used to the round ball than the oval one. It also acts as bridge between the local communities and those who work in city, only stone’s throw away. It has an associated junior rugby club the Southwark Tigers.
And this is just a taster of what we are involved in!
