As a community we turned 9 years old this weekend. We are under going significant change at the moment as Fran our leader made the decision to step down at the end of this year and so inevitably we have to look to the future and how things might be formed in the new year.
We had a community meal together on the Sunday just gone to start to talk through what this might start to mean as some of us gather as a steering group to pray and think things through. We shared in communion and remembered that while things around us change God’s love is constant; we prayed this prayer:
God is constant…
In our lives there are ups and downs
We sometimes feel certain,
We sometimes hang on,
We sometimes feel we have a place,
We sometimes feel we are alone
We smile and cry
We laugh and frown
At times we change our mind
At times we stand our ground
We run and hide
We hold our heads with pride
We show all our cards
We keep up our guard
But one thing that does not change…
God is constant
His love eternal
Ever present
Lord God, as we share in this meal which reminds us that you supply all our needs. We remember we join with others who have done the same from ancient times.
We thank you for loving us, no matter where and who we are. We thank you that your ways are eternal and your love is like a circle that has no end.
Amen
(Note: I based this prayer on one that can be found here.)
