A prayer I wrote for the wedding breakfast of my sister-in-law and her now husband last weekend, a big shout out to Brennan Manning for his theology in writing it:
Lord God, as we sit at the beginning of this feast we thank you for bringing us together. We are concious of those we have lost and the love we have shared with them in past times. We pray for those who cannot be here at present, who long to join with us in this moment.
We thank you we can share today in the love shared by Helen and Gavin. That in seeing them it reminds us that you are love. We remember it was was you who gave us this world to enjoy, the food in it to tast, and the wine to savour. We remember that you greatest delight as our Father is joining with us and watching us enjoy that which you made for us.
